Sandulli installed seven terracotta panels along the beautiful walking path that leads from the main road to Praia beach. The panels tell the stories of seven local characters who lived here before the beach changed from a fishermen’s hamlet to a tourist destination.
The story of each panel is also told in a poem the artist wrote to translate his terracotta sculptures into verse. As in most of his work, Sandulli represented concepts that highlightthe joyful character of the place while recalling its myths and traditions. The characters are mainly fishermen who are represented in scenes that steer away from the harsh reality of their lives to reveal the beauty and happiness of a life in close touch with nature.

He enrolled in Giovanni Brancaccio’s Painting Course at the Academy of Fine Arts in Naples, then for three years in Rome with Maestro Gentilini, with whom he graduated in painting. He continued his studies at the Ruche in Paris, former residence-studio of Chagall, Soutine, Archipenko and Viani, where he worked for five years. In 1980 he opened a studio in Naples and stayed there for six years, working with the Galleria Mediterranea presented by Paolo Ricci. He then moved to Bergamo to the Ca Rossa in Mapello. Since 1993 he has lived on the Amalfi Coast, in Praiano, where he devotes himself to sculpture and terracotta. Some of his works embellish the garden of the Palazzo Murat in Positano, others the rooms of the Syrene Bellevue in Sorrento, the prestigious L’Olivo restaurant of the Capri Palace in Anacapri and others the villas and the tower on the island of Li Galli. Paintings and sculptures are in private collections in Italy and abroad.
