Amalfi with children
23 July–27 August 2026 – Amalfi, Tovere and Pogerola
Puppetry, contemporary circus, beachside storytelling and workshops inspired by the local landscape: for more than a month, Amalfi will host a programme created for children and designed to be enjoyed by the whole family.
Running from 23 July to 27 August, Estate dei Piccoli brings performances and creative activities to public spaces in central Amalfi and the hillside villages of Tovere and Pogerola.
Rather than being confined to a single venue, the programme unfolds across Piazza Municipio, Amalfi’s public beach, Parco Pineta and the squares of the surrounding villages. For families, this means combining theatre and play with the chance to discover parts of the municipality that many short-stay visitors rarely see.
The Estate dei Piccoli 2026 programme
The festival opens on Thursday 23 July at 8:00 pm in the square outside the Church of San Pietro in Tovere with La Piccola Lanterna. Performed by the Ablativo company, the show combines storytelling, puppetry and live music.
On Friday 24 July at 9:00 pm, Piazza Municipio will host Sonata per tubi by Nando e Maila. Tubes, circus equipment and everyday objects become musical instruments in a performance that brings contemporary circus, classical music and rock into the same playful space.
The programme continues throughout July and August:
- 28 July, 7:00 pm – Amalfi public beach: Foam Party;
- 30 July, 8:00 pm – Piazza G. Amodio, Pogerola: Hakuna Matata – Il Re della Foresta;
- 4 August, 8:00 pm – public beach: One Piece – Amalfi all’Arrembaggio;
- 6 August, 9:00 pm – Piazza Municipio: Pinocchio by Teatro del Drago;
- 11 August, 6:30 pm – Parco Pineta: E se sognassi la Valle dei Mulini?! workshop;
- 13 August, 9:00 pm – Piazza Municipio: Moby Dicky;
- 18 August, 6:30 pm – Parco Pineta: Cuore Amalfitano workshop;
- 20 August, 9:00 pm – Piazza Municipio: La strana storia del pesce palla;
- 25 August, 6:30 pm – Parco Pineta: T-Shirt d’Autore workshop;
- 27 August, 9:00 pm – Piazza G. Amodio, Pogerola: Cenerentola.
Why experience Estate dei Piccoli in Amalfi?
To give children an alternative to spending every day at the beach, introducing them to theatre, music and creative work through accessible outdoor performances.
To discover more of Amalfi than its best-known historic centre, with events taking place in Tovere, Pogerola, Parco Pineta and other spaces connected to everyday local life.
To join workshops that link play with a stronger sense of place, including activities inspired by the Valle dei Mulini and by children’s relationship with Amalfi.
What to combine with your visit
Explore the Valle delle Ferriere or the opening section of the route towards the Valle dei Mulini, choosing a walk suited to the children’s age and the weather conditions.
Spend time in Pogerola or Tovere to see Amalfi from a different perspective and experience villages that sit beyond the main flow of day visitors.
