The Two Pillars of Italian Jazz in “Le Mille Bolle Blu” After the Slow Food Alliance Dinner
The excellence of Slow Food cuisine meets the allure of great Italian jazz as Nicky Nicolai and Stefano Di Battista bring Mille Bolle Blu to Praiano on Friday, 5 September 2025, for the fourth edition of the “Margherita in Jazz” festival.
On the panoramic terrace of the restaurant M’Ama!, Hotel Margherita presents Margherita in Jazz – Under the Moon: an evening where two of Italy’s foremost jazz artists take the stage after a special Slow Food Alliance Dinner. A dialogue between landscape, music, and flavour that promises to be unforgettable, confirming the Amalfi Coast’s vocation for cultural and sensory experiences that linger long after.
The Divine Coast is preparing for a night suspended between taste and sound, in one of the most enchanting settings of its terraced landscape. Tickets can be booked through EventBrite or directly via M’Ama!.
The Evening’s Programme
📍 Friday, 5 September 2025
- 7:00 PM – A welcome aperitif opens the evening.
- 7:30 PM – Music begins with the Alessandro Florio Trio (Alessandro Florio on guitar, Alessio Bruno on double bass, Elisabetta Saviano on drums). Their elegant blend of rhythm and intimacy sets the tone, weaving jazz language with the atmosphere of the dinner. For Florio, a distinguished jazz musician and native son of the Amalfi Coast, this is also a homecoming: the landscape has inspired several of his original works.
- 8:00 PM – The Slow Food Alliance Dinner, prepared “four hands” by Chef Raffaele Mascolo of M’Ama! and the agriturismo L’Incartata of Calvanico.
- Mascolo reinterprets the flavours of the Coast with a contemporary touch, in keeping with Slow Food’s values of seasonality, respect for ingredients, and connection to place.
- L’Incartata brings to the table the mallone of Calvanico, an ancient dish of potatoes and foraged wild greens, shining a light on tradition through authentic taste.
- Monti Lattari appetisers with Cilento ancient grains
- ’Ndunderi of Minori with cherry tomatoes, rocket, and Carmasciano pecorino (Slow Food Presidia)
- Suckling pig braised with craft beer from Amalfi’s Melphis brewery
- Mallone of Calvanico
- Almond tozzetti with a reduction of Amalfi Coast red wine
- 10:00 PM – The spotlight turns to Mille Bolle Blu. On the panoramic terrace of Praiano, two of the most celebrated figures in Italian jazz take the stage: Nicky Nicolai, a powerful and versatile voice crossing soul, gospel, and swing, and Stefano Di Battista, one of Europe’s most acclaimed saxophonists, admired for his blend of lyricism and virtuosity.
Together they lead the audience on a musical journey that fuses elegance and emotion, revisiting great Italian and international hits from the ’60s and ’70s with fresh swing and jazz interpretations. A swirl of melodies, a cocktail of sound for all generations — music that sparks smiles, surprises with inventive duets, and shimmers like soap bubbles in the night sky.
More Than Dinner, More Than Music
Margherita in Jazz is not simply a concert, nor merely a dinner. It is a fusion of two worlds, transforming the terrace of M’Ama! into a multidimensional stage: the Mediterranean as backdrop; the cascading white houses with their domed rooftops (astici a panza) clinging to the cliffs; the starry sky as a natural canopy; the interplay of notes and flavours weaving an experience that celebrates the art of conviviality — a living part of the Amalfi Coast’s cultural heritage.
Now in its fourth edition, the festival was born in the aftermath of the pandemic, with the desire to reconnect people through music, food, and shared moments of joy. Today, it has evolved into a storyteller of the land itself, pairing the region’s culinary traditions with performances from Italy’s finest jazz artists.
